Release and availability
When does Find The Needle come out?
November 6, 2026, in Steam Early Access. The store lists the date but does not publish an unlock hour or time zone. See the release date guide for the launch-day checklist.
What platforms is it on?
Windows PC via Steam. The store lists Windows 10/11 64-bit only. There is no Mac, Linux, PS5 or Xbox version announced. The game requires a Vulkan 1.3 GPU.
Is it on Game Pass?
No. There is no Game Pass or console listing. It is a Steam PC release.
How long is Early Access?
The developer plans 6–12 months of Early Access. The full version is planned to add more machines, more diggers, bigger late-game projects, balancing and polish. There is no confirmed 1.0 date.
Price and demo
How much does Find The Needle cost?
Not announced. The Steam page says “coming soon” and the appdetails response has no price package. The developer says the price will rise after Early Access, but the launch price is not public. Do not trust a number that is not on the store page.
Is there a demo?
Yes. The free demo has its own Steam App ID, 5165210. It is a limited slice of the game and reached #1 most played demo worldwide, according to the developer's Steam news. See the demo guide.
Does demo progress carry over?
Not confirmed. The store does not say saves transfer. Treat the demo as a separate build and do not expect your demo factory to appear in the full game.
Is the demo the full game?
No. It is a slice. The full game has the Standard and Mountain piles, the full upgrade tree and the 24-needle collection. The demo is for testing the loop.
Gameplay
What do you do in Find The Needle?
You dig hay from a pile of about six million strands, sell it, buy better tools and machines, and build a factory that automates the process. Along the way you search for 24 needles. The loop is dig → sell → automate → optimize.
How many needles are there?
24, according to the Steam store. There is no official location list. The needles guide explains how to search efficiently without fake coordinates.
How long is the game?
The developer estimates 7–10 hours on the Standard pile and 30+ hours on the Mountain pile. Those are estimates, not speedrun times. See ending and playtime.
Is there an ending?
Not confirmed. The store describes a 24-needle collection and a self-running factory but does not promise a final cutscene or credits. Treat “find all 24” as the completion goal until the launch build proves otherwise.
Is there automation?
Yes. The store lists conveyor belts, balers, scanners, robotic arms, robots, drones, hay wrappers, paper machines, sorting machines, pipes and power. Automation is the core progression, not a bonus. Start with the automation guide.
How do you change conveyor direction?
Use the build/rotate controls to reverse or rotate a belt. The exact keybind is not published on the store page, so check the in-game controls screen. The conveyor guide covers the layout principles; it does not invent keybinds.
What are the products?
The store lists hay pulp, compressed bales, eco bricks, hay paper, pellets, bioplastic and carbon fibre. The hay products guide explains the progression and what to process first.
Multiplayer and mods
Does Find The Needle have multiplayer or co-op?
No. The official Steam categories list Single-player and Family Sharing only. There is no online co-op, local co-op or PvP. Steam user tags may say “Multiplayer,” but tags are not features. See multiplayer and mods.
Can you play with friends?
Not natively. You can share a screen, take turns or race separate saves. There is no invite or lobby system.
Does it support mods?
No official mod support or Steam Workshop listing. Community mods may appear after launch, but there is no supported pipeline yet. Avoid pre-launch “unlock all” tools.
Is it the Roblox game?
No. This is the Needless Games Steam game. The Roblox experience with the same name is a different game with codes and a different audience. This site does not cover it.
Platform and performance
Will it run on Steam Deck?
Unknown. The game is Windows-only and has no Steam Deck Verified rating. It may run through Proton because it uses Vulkan, but performance in large factories is unproven. See the Steam Deck guide.
What are the system requirements?
Minimum: Windows 10 64-bit, i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 2600, 8 GB RAM, GTX 1050 Ti or RX 570 with Vulkan 1.3 and 4 GB VRAM, 2 GB storage. Recommended: Windows 11 64-bit, 6+ cores, 16 GB RAM, GTX 1660 Super or RTX 2060. Integrated graphics are unsupported. Full details on the system requirements page.
Does it have achievements?
Not listed as of November 2, 2026. The store lists Single-player and Family Sharing only. Achievements may be added during Early Access, but there is no official list yet. See achievements.
Does it support Steam Cloud?
Not listed. Do not assume saves sync between PCs. Back up your save manually if you switch machines.
Buying advice
Should I buy it at launch?
Buy if you liked the demo and want the full automation tree. Wait if you need a finished game, co-op or Steam Deck Verified status. The pre-launch review has the full verdict.
Is it the same as Needle In A Haystack Simulator?
No. That is a different game by Nas, announced with 8-player co-op for Q4 2026. Find The Needle is a single-player automation game by Needless Games. See the comparison.
Where can I follow updates?
